There's a lot going on, a lot of theology, a lot of bad horror movie effects.. With a predictable plot, by-the-numbers action-movie jolts and no real sense of wonder, The Sorcerer's Apprentice is really just a pumpkin.. A big gob of mythical makeover and special effects-freewheeling fun.. If a couple of adults are looking for mature movie enjoyment, this can be a disappointing recipe.
